Friday 20090529

Finally, both the electrical and the plumbing rough-in inspections are complete! The exterior service panels have been installed.

The exterior lighting and receptacle blocks are in place and wired.

The soffit material had to be removed from the side door overhang to mount the can light. Since we cannot get the soffit material in large enough pieces, I presume they will put the 1x6 v-groove bead-board up like is going on the front porch ceiling.

Sconce blocking has been installed at both the front door and the back door.

Light and receptacle blocking on the master deck has also been installed.

Plumbing lines are still holding max pressure.

Thursday 20090528

The framing crew installed mounting blocks for exterior lighting today. The plumbing above-ground rough-in inspection passed yesterday.

Electricians finished up with their rough-in today, wires were pulled through the exterior wall to the location for the service panel, and the electrical rough-in inspection should be tomorrow.

Tuesday 20090526

After a long holiday weekend, we get 2.71 inches of rain today. In spite of this, the electricians had a good day pulling more wire. I don't know how they will be able to pack all this into the service box.

We are disappointed that the back door still does not have the board under the threshold and hope that is the only reason water continues to pour in under it when it rains.

Friday 20090522

Well, if the county offices had been open today, the plumber would have called for a rough-in inspection for next Tuesday, but they were closed due to mandatory furlough. We should be getting both the electrical and the plumbing inspections sometime next week. We're keeping our fingers crossed. The framing crew re-did the siding on the east shed dormer wall so it aligns with the rear of the house.

We are really moving now.

They will have to rehang the porch recessed lights after the framers put in the furring strips to level the porch ceiling.

Thursday 20090521

Well, at least the framing crew is replacing the misaligned shingles on the shed dormer, now if they will only realign the shingles on the main gable so they don't drop about 1 inch in a 20 foot run.

Lots of great progress in pulling wire on the second floor and most of the plumbing routes have been sealed. The two shower pan membranes were installed today.

Wednesday 20090520

Great day for both plumbing and electrical. We were so excited to see my OUTDOOR SHOWER!

Hose bib.

Supply line from well pump.
Shower in bathroom #2 and pan membrane.

Switch wiring in bedroom #3

Pedestal sink plumbing in bathroom #3 ready for pressure testing.

Master shower and pan membrane.

View from our neighbor's porch.

See anything wrong?

A closer look at the southeast corner upstairs shakes.

Tuesday 20090519

Outstanding day! Almost all the decking is in place. All that is left is about five boards where the pump jack is still in place on the side deck.

The shower walls in bath #2 (downstairs) are finally being framed and the plumber installed the valve and head stub-out.

Lots more wiring was installed on the second floor including standard, GFI, and 240v circuits.

The shower head stub-out for the master shower was installed in the wrong location. But hey, almost all the rough-in plumbing is in now.

Monday 20090518

Wooohoooo! Eddie Blake's crew (A B Blake Electrical Contractor) started the electrical rough-in. They started on the second floor and worked down to the first floor putting in the receptacle, switch, and fixture boxes and the can lights. Then they began pulling wire on the second floor.

The receptacles will be in the baseboards of the living and dining areas.
There are lots of switches in the kitchen!

Saturday 20090516

Intermediate post was added to back deck and decking was applied to side and back deck up to the southwest corner. Here they will continue decking along the side deck after the scaffold is removed.

Friday 20090515

We're on a roll again! Yesterday had to be marked up as pretty much a rain day. Today, more shakes and trim were installed on the east side. A little disappointed that the door from the downstairs bedroom to the side deck is not hung correctly. Something is either not plumb, square, or level. I'm sure they'll get back around to correcting it sometime. Eddie Blake of AB Blake Electrical Contracting will begin the electrical rough-in on Monday!

It won't be long until all the decking is in place!
